John Allen Astin (born 30 March 1930; age 94) is an American actor who played Professor Albert Wickwire in several episodes of The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr.
He has had a career spanning nearly eight decades, and is best known for the roles of Gomez Addams on The Addams Family, Evil Roy Slade, and other similarly eccentric comedic characters.

He has appeared in numerous films and television shows outside of The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr., beginning with an uncredited role in the anthology series Studio One (1957).
He also has enjoyed a stint as a director, working on such shows as Night Gallery (1970-1971), McMillan & Wife (1971), CHiPs (1982-1983), and Murder, She Wrote (1986).
